Early Happy New Years + A Small Update.

Well, the year has almost come to an end, and I see this year as the year that I learned how to do more advanced Rom Hacking. Mostly due to my "Paper Mario Redux" project which pretty much taught how to do everything I know now.

Now onto the main reason for this post. I've set up a thread on Pokemon Mario on the Pokemon Community forums. Check it out here!
http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=204238

You'll get a little bit more up to date with this, plus it raised awareness =P.

Well with that being said I would like to thank these following people.

PatJamma - A true friend who has a great amount of patience, glad you didn't turn your back on me :)

Alasteir - A great pal, which I kind of regret not being in contact with. Was one of the "masterminds" behind Paper Mario Redux.

Happy Holidays + A Concept.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to anyone reading this!

Well I didn't get the chance to get much work done (I had to transfer tiles from one rom to another and then re-map everything...)

Well, here's interesting concept for my Rom Hack - Pokemon Mario.
I've got the story set up for the beginning part of the game, which involves you, the player, storming into Bowser's airships in hopes of re-claiming the Princess. I probably shouldn't spoil much, but in the game you
will be able to access warp pipes which will lead you to another map/room/dimension/whatever. For the beginning you will start out on an Airship where you will have to solve a "puzzle" (which is easy...). In order to advance from Point A to Point B

So in order to solve one of these "puzzles" on the airships, you will need
to go down a Warp Pipe. The scenery then changes from 2-D to 3-D . As
portrayed in this concept pic.  As you can see, one of the long wooden
blocks (As seen on the 1st picture) was changed to look 3D. This is a rough representation, but it works. This results in a change from 2D gameplay to 3D.

Of course, I'm still looking for help on graphics. (Soon enough, ripped tiles from other games will not be enough xD) And I definitely need help on this 2D to 3D tile conversion
since I'm graphically challenged...

Ahem.

Update - 12/23/2009

Well I restarted work on this project, and so far I've gotten the basic "overworld" airship tiles into the rom. For now I have two pics to show you.

This image here is a small screenshot of the actual map.
If you remember in my old video about the Sidescrolling
concept in action, the whole background was black!
I changed this up and now I believe it looks much much more
appealing with the purple background and the stars floating around!

Here is a pic of the thing in game! It looks much more interesting
with the fog in the foreground (*cough* cheap clouds *cough*)

So yea, its something to look forward to in the next hack.
Your mission in the first part of my hack is to find the dreaded Bowser and engage him in combat!

New Blog!

If you're here, its to check out my progress on Pokemon Mario and related works! This is much more efficient than the weekly (which really then turned to monthly....) videos I post on Youtube.com. For now there isn't much, but this is a much better way and its less time consuming than editing videos and such. Don' worry though! There will still be videos and such on my Youtube Channel!

Heres a link to my Youtube Channel!
